Dee's Car Crash:

These strips, where Michael and Weed happen across a car accident and stop to take pictures, was based closely on an incident involving Lynn's son. One day Aaron, who had been working for a news station, stopped to get footage at a tragic scene without assisting the EMTs, or paying any attention to the young woman involved.

He had been excited about the quality of the shots he'd been able to get, and at his "luck" at being the first cameraman on the scene. It wasn't until he was watching the news that evening, that he heard the name of the victim—she had been one of Aaron's close friends, and she hadn't survived. Lynn asked Aaron's permission to use the story in the strip, and he agreed, hoping that it would serve as a reminder that nobody is "just another person".
