Deanna, daughter of Mira and Wilfred Sobinski, and Michael son of Elly and John Patterson were married on September 15, 2001 at St. Andrew's in the Glen. Lawrence Poirier readily served as Best Man. The two groomsmen were Gordon Mayes and Jeff Myers with Sean Myers, the bride's nephew, as ring bearer. The bride's sister, Andrea Myers, was Matron of Honour. Deanna's friend, Maxine Hebert, and the groom's two sisters, Elizabeth and April Patterson were the bridesmaids.
The bride wore a Romona Keveza Gown from the designer's "Legendary Brides Collection". The Groom and groomsmen wore traditional tuxedo's with yellow boutineres to match the bridal party's yellow bridesmaid dresses.
Mr. Carl Ptashnik performed the ceremony. Friends and family attended the celebration from as far away as British Columbia. The reception was held at the local legion and a succulent dinner, which included Cornish Game Hen, was served. The wedding cake was cut by the couple and presented for dessert - after photos of course! During the reception the DJ spun a variety of vinyl keeping the dance floor busy!
The bride and groom both graduated from Western University in June, 1999. Deanna earned her degree in Pharmacy while Michael received his degree in Journalism. After school, before getting married, each realized that they needed to accomplish individual goals and aim for individual dreams. Michael accepted a writing job that took him to the East coast, while Deanna had to fulfill her dreams of helping those less privileged. She took off to Honduras to work with a medical team.
